Self Reflection

1. I believe that I have an AP because my research is not as stellar as it used to be.
2. I have done my science fair proposal well and I have been most proud of it.
3. I would like to improve my research as this is being a growing problem because of the scarcity of research.

Science Fair Proposal

1) If generic drugs have the same effects as brand name drugs then they should take the same time to penetrate a soluble surface.
2) The independent variable in the science component is the drugs I will be using. The dependent variables will be the times that they need to penetrate the soluble surface and the control is the soluble surface.
3) My science fair component will help fill the knowledge I need to be a successful community pharmacist which will help me explain the differences between generics and brands.
4) I will need a cup to hold the liquids with the water with the drugs, I will need paper as a soluble surface, and I
will need a generic version of aspirin and a brand name version of aspirin.
5) This is a Chemistry type science experiment.

What I've Learned So Far

1) I have learned that to be a pharmacist you need more than good peoples skills even better pharmacy techs and a leadership skills you need to be aware that what you are doing could kill people. The wrong dosage or strength could have the patient die from overdoes.
2) http://www.lowabram.com/articles/pharmacist-liability/
3)The internet has defiantly been my most important source as the internet is an infinite source of information and that has been a convenient source

Independent Component 1 Plan Approval

1) I plan to use a type of training pharmacists use in order to keep private information private and this training is called a H.I.P.P.A. training.
2) I plan to do about 5 hours a week for about 6 weeks as is the duration for a complete H.I.P.P.A.
3) My independent study has everything to do with my topic as it is a mandatory training for all pharmacists before they can even step into the pharmacy.

Defining the Essential Question

1) My E.Q. is: What is most important to becoming a successful community pharmacist.
2) important: The knowledge that every community pharmacist should have
successful: I can make a living out my job and still make a little bit more for extra material items
3) My only answer that I have come up with so far is extensive pharmaceutical health knowledge.
4) My most important source so far is a book that I have called 21st edition Drug Handbook by Springfield Inc.

Second Interview Questions

1. What does pharmacy mean to you when you hear it. Please be as descriptive as possible.
2. Is there a special kind of school that you go to in order to be a pharmacist or can I go to any CSU or U.C.? If there is a special school can you tell me which one you went to or tell me a web site where I can find one?
3. How long did it take you to finish your credentials?
4. What kind of credentials do you have. Is there a pay difference if you have better credentials? If so by how much?

Presentation Reflection

1. My first interview effected my presentation in that I was focusing my attention on the drug Vicodin not as a doctor but as a pharmacist as my first interviewee told me that a pharmacist job is to inform the customer of the drugs side effects and give the customer the drugs, so during my presentation I focused on the side effects than say the chemical structure.

2. What I felt that stood out in my presentation is my visual because it contained a lot pictures that not only were there as a visual but they served a purpose.

3. The most challenging thing for me was actually getting up and doing the presentation by my self. All of my I-Poly life I have been presenting with groups but this is the first one in a very long time where it was just me doing it. The moments before the presentation were nerve wracking.

Senior Project Presentation 1

The objective of my first presentation will be to explain the history of pharmacy which includes its prehistoric origins and follows through the most important events in pharmacy. I will be using my visual which will be a time line outlining the important events in pharmacy.

1) I will introduce myself and my subject and tell the class more or less what this presentation will be about and give them a quick rundown of the lesson.

2) I will address the class by asking if the may have any idea if they have ever seen pharmacy in history or if the even believe this is possible. If a student answers I will then ask them to elaborate on this knowledge.

3) I will then give them a "cliff notes" version of the history of pharmacy which will run until there is about a minute left on the clock in which case I will address the class again and ask them a question in which I will call on a random person. My lesson will then end.

The lesson that I will give will require minimal materials. I will need a timeline visual, a yardstick to point to the visual, and I will need pop sticks to call on a random person in the class this last material will be provided by the teacher.

Interview Check

1. I am interviewing my mother's boss Jennifer and I am interviewing her because she is an actual pharmacist and I will have good input from her seeing as she is a qualified pharmacist.
2. I would ask her where exactly did she go to school to be a pharmacist. I would ask her what other sources should I turn to for other interviews. I would also ask her how long did it take her to finish pharmacy school.

Reasearch

My topic is Pharmacy a career I wish to follow. I want to follow Pharmacy as my senior topic because I want to get a better understanding of the career and plan to go to the right college's to minimize the time I need to spend there and begin the career as soon as possible so that I can enjoy life and all it has to offer. I hope to accomplish a better understanding of Pharmacy and hopefully pursue a successful career that will lead me to a relatively stress free life.
